Environmental DNA Analysis / Environmental Microbial Analysis Environmental Microbes

We use both classical culture methods including various official methods and culture independent tools such as next-generation sequencing and quantitative PCR (real-time PCR) to analyze microorganisms that are deeply involved in industry and the environment.

Microbial Community Structure Analysis / Microbial Identification

  • - Next-generation sequencing (NGS)
We use a next-generation sequencer (MiSeq, Illumina) to conduct microbial community structure analysis (microbiome profiling). We also estimate species diversity such as rarefaction curves and Shannon indexes to understanding microbial consortium.

    - Quantitative PCR (real-time PCR)
From universal quantification of eubacteria/archaea to quantification of specific microbes such as nitrifying bacteria and methanogens. We can also develop/customize methods to detect desired microorganisms.

    - Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
Analysis of the abundance and spatial distribution of specific microorganisms using a fluorescence microscope. We can also develop/customize methods.

    - Cloning library analysis
We also support conventional clone library with Sanger sequence.

    - Microbial identification
Identification of isolated microorganisms using 16S rRNA(bacteria)/ITS(fungi) gene sequencing.

Environmental Microbial Test

  • - General bacteria / heterotrophic bacteria
    - Total bacterial count (microscopic observation)
    - Coliform bacteria / Escherichia coli, fecal Escherichia coli, O-157
    - Legionella
    - Clostridium perfringens, anaerobic spore-forming bacteria
    - E. coli phage
    - Nitrifying bacteria, sulfur -oxidizing bacteria, iron bacteria, sulfur -oxidizing bacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria
    - Airborne microbes
    - Other microbial tests based on official methods and literature

Various Microbial Test

  • We conduct a variety of microbial tests.
    - Disinfection/antimicrobial tests against fungi, bacteria and bacteriophage
    - Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bacterial concentration (MBC)
    - Nitrification / denitrification rate test
    - Biogas potential test (vial tests/ continuous test using max.10-L reactors)
    - Other various vial/reactor tests

Environmental DNA Analysis

Environmental DNA (eDNA) is released excrement, mucus and skin from organisms (e.g. fish and insect) into the environment.
eDNA analysis enable to grasp the macro-organisms existing in the environment without capturing (injuring) or disturbing their habitats. Thus, eDNA analysis is a promising tool for biological survey.
We conduct eDNA analysis in accordance with the manual "Environmental DNA Sampling and Experiment Manual" prepared by the eDNA Methods Standardization Committee of the eDNA Society.
We can report unique data which examined carefully by professionals in gene analysis and biological survey besides standard data analyzed by using official databases.
