Stress Evaluation and Measurement of Dam Gates

For hydroelectric dam gates throughout Japan, it is necessary to measure stress to evaluate the soundness of steel materials and structures during new construction work as well as when replacement work is performed. On performing this measurement, we do selection of the measuring equipments, installation of the sensors, data acquisition by the measurements, and the evaluation of them.

General Measurements

  • Acoustic exploration

    Effective countermeasures can be taken by "visualizing” invisible sounds and identifying their source in the environment and machines. An acoustic camera combines a camera with several directional microphones to display sound in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Strain measurement

    In order to understand the strain that is generated in mechanical structures and bridges, a strain gauge is attached to the surface of the member to perform a strain measurement. This measurement can be dynamic or static. The measured values are recorded digitally, and the data is provided to the customer.

  • Mechanical vibration/displacement measurement

    Some equipment used in factories, etc. might generate vibration, so we acquire data to consider countermeasures. In addition, contact type and non-contact type displacement measurements are also possible according to the conditions and atmosphere at the installation part.

  • Temperature measurement

    Thermocouples and thermography cameras are used to take temperature measurements, in order to understand temperature conditions due to piping or welding when the boiler is started.

  • Ground/floor vibration measurement

    We perform vibration measurements in order to understand the level of vibration that is generated due to construction work, and use it as data for considering countermeasures.

  • Flat plate loading test

    When installing a building or structure on level ground, you need to know the ground strength. Therefore, we use a flat plate loading test to conduct ground investigation.

  • Noise measurement

    We measure noise and vibration at residences, factories, construction sites, etc., as well as the noise and vibration that are generated by general machinery, vehicles, ships, etc.

  • Residual stress capacity

    Residual stress is often a problem in welds and castings, and we use the strain gauge method to provide surface residual stress measurement data.

  • Other laboratory tests

    We take into consideration a load test using a surface plate as well as the goal of the customer, and then perform the necessary steps.

Civil Engineering Measurements

  • Position measurements with total station

    Total station is used to perform position measurements at the measurement points for the behavior of a structure due to aging.

  • Inclination/subsidence measurement

    When working on embankments or other projects, we use an inclination/subsidence meter to provide measurement data in order to understand whether the work is carried out safely as originally planned.

Measurement Management

When construction is carried out around existing structures, measurement is managed in order to monitor and understand how the structures will be affected.
Measurement is performed automatically, and constantly monitored by a line connecting the site to our company.
This system is used to set a management standard value at the time of measurement, and if the standard value is exceeded notification is sent via a telephone line.
