Support for the Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants

  • The retrieval of "fuel debris" is the most difficult step in decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1 through 3, which were damaged during the Great East Japan Earthquake.
We built a new factory for retrieving this "fuel debris," and installed a full-size reproduction of a portion of the reactor containment vessel.
At this new factory, we are engaged in technological development, including robots that are used for decommissioning, and support work.
Chugai Technos utilizes technologies that we have cultivated over a quarter of a century, such as inspection and repair technologies for maintaining the internal structure of a reactor, to provide support for the complete decommissioning of these facilities as soon as possible.

    - Support work for investigating the inside of reactor containment vessels to be decommissioned
    - Support for studying fuel debris retrieval methods to be used for decommissioning
    - Development of fuel debris retrieval support robots to be used for decommissioning
    * Chugai Technos supports the development work conducted by Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, Inc. as the work of the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) in the business of decommissioning and implementing countermeasures against contaminated water of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.
